Turkish Cypriot peace activist Dr Okan Dağlı has been rejected entry to Turkey at the airport in İzmir as his name is among the list of Turkish Cypriots who are now regarded as a threat to the national security by the current regime in Turkey.
Dr.Dağlı, also a former CTP deputy, is a respected figure in both communities in Cyprus, has dedicated his life to the reconciliation and peace in Cyprus.
As an activist in #UniteCyprusNow, Famagusta Initiative and many others, Dr.Dağlı found out that his name is in the stop list at the airport since the Turkish authorities made no effort no explain who else are in that infamous list.
We condemn this arbitrary practice and invite the Turkish authorities to clarify why and on what grounds Okan and other Turkish Cypriot intellectuals, activists and journalists are regarded as a threat to Turkey's national security.
